Korat

The Korat is originally from Thailand, and it’s another rare cat breed with a high IQ. It is believed that the Korats bring a lot of good luck, especially in their homeland. They are incredible and very attentive to the world around them. Korats have moderate energy, enjoy various interactive games, and also love their naps.

The breed can learn tricks faster than anyone, whether we’re talking about playing fetch or walking on a leash. You can easily teach this cat your household rules, but remember to reward it every step of the way with praise and treats.

The kitty loves its toys, and at times, you might notice a certain stubbornness to share the toys with others. If you have many toys, this should fix the issue. They love attention and are super affectionate with their families.

Savannah

This cat breed is also on the list of rare and exotic breeds with high IQs. It was originally developed by crossing wild African servals with domestic cats. You’d be surprised to find out how much of the wild side can be found in its appearance and attitude.

They require a lot of space to run, jump, and play. They get bored easily, as they need sufficient interaction and environmental simulation. The breed will accompany you on your big walks in the park (with a leash) and even seek water to play in. Don’t be shocked if you catch Savannah turning on the faucet one day!

Siamese

Probably in the top 3 most popular and recognizable cat breeds, the Siamese is well known for its beautiful coat, super curious nature, and chatty tendencies. These cats are very smart, affectionate, and energetic.

They adore playing and require a lot of attention and company. You might want to keep this kitty’s brain as busy as it can get with all kinds of puzzles and teaser toys. And if you have the opportunity, get a big cat tree for climbing; the kitty will love it. If a Siamese gets bored, it won’t stay this way; this cat knows how to entertain itself, either by turning on faucets or rummaging where it shouldn’t.

  1. You do not mention Ocicats, which were developed by crossing Siamese with Abyssinians and then adding a touch of American Shorthair for more color. They are a spotted breed, very active and intelligent, not surprising considering their breeding. We had two that were wonderful, very affectionate, loved heights, played games and interacted with our two other “ordinary” cats, who weren’t “ordinary” either. Most people who have cats will tell you stories of the amazing things cats do and are capable of. And you don’t have to take them out for a walk on a cold, windy winter night!
