Abyssinian
This sleek-looking cat is super athletic, agile, and affectionate towards people. Abyssinians are some of the most intelligent and in tune with any kind of activity that comes within a family. This breed loves heights, and that’s why he’ll be perched above the room, keeping a close eye on everything.
Out of all the different cat types, this particular one learns tricks very quickly and will rapidly enjoy running an agility course. Overall, they’re not really lap cats, as they love getting petted and brushed. Somehow, they also enjoy the company of other animals, and they can easily adapt to any kind of living arrangement.
Balinese
The Balinese is the long-haired version of the Siamese cat breed. In most cases, they are active cats that adore investigating every little thing their humans might be doing. They are also super chatty, as they have no problem vocalizing their problems.
If you want to keep this kitty active, just give him some puzzles or a teaser toy. Don’t forget about a big cat tree for climbing! The breed can rapidly learn how to fetch and walk on a leash, but it can also figure out tricks very quickly. They’re usually very affectionate with their own families, but they might get into mischief exploring new homes, especially if they’re left unstimulated for way too long.
One Response
You do not mention Ocicats, which were developed by crossing Siamese with Abyssinians and then adding a touch of American Shorthair for more color. They are a spotted breed, very active and intelligent, not surprising considering their breeding. We had two that were wonderful, very affectionate, loved heights, played games and interacted with our two other “ordinary” cats, who weren’t “ordinary” either. Most people who have cats will tell you stories of the amazing things cats do and are capable of. And you don’t have to take them out for a walk on a cold, windy winter night!
