Increased vocalization
When a cat that’s usually quiet as a church mouse suddenly turns into a chatterbox, you might want to question if something is off. This kind of behavior is even more concerning if it lasts for over 24 or 36 hours. Increased vocalization could lead to many problems.
On the one hand, it could mean that your cat is in pain, suffers from an upset stomach, or could be suffering from a neurological problem. Even if it might have a relatively harmless meaning, like the fact that you need to fill their empty food bowl or their favorite toy has gone missing, a cat who meows like never before might suffer from a serious underlying health problem.
On the other hand, it could mean that a chronic illness has set in. It could be either chronic kidney disease or even diabetes, so you need to pay attention to this particular symptom.
