If you have a dog, you know they like to smell everything. When you go outside, your buddy sniffs every tree and every corner. But why is that happening? Well, pups have a sense of smell that is so much more powerful than the one we have. We have 5 to 10 million scent receptors, while they have over 220 million! They can smell things we cannot even imagine, which is amazing.

And since they have this highly developed sense, dogs can use it to detect various medical conditions like cancer or low blood sugar. In order to achieve that, puppies go through extensive training, and after a while, they become able to help their owner when needed.
Stay with us if you want to discover all the medical conditions your canine companion can uncover. Read on and find out all about it!

  1. I have a 2 year old St. Bernard who can detect low blood sugar and wakes me up when mine drops dangerously low.

  2. That is so awesome! I hope you give him anything he wants! ( he ‘s big enough, so I guess you’d better!) You truely have a wonderful friend.
