8. Jack Russell Terrier
Jack Russell Terrier dogs are highly energetic and become easily distracted. They are known to be a challenging breed, to say the least. From running around the house at full speed to chewing up your shoes, these pups are little balls of energy that can be difficult to potty train.
Of all of the terrier breeds, experts point out that the Jack Russell is the most difficult to housetrain. They are just so full of life that they might be unable to focus on their potty training.
Not to mention that their hunting instincts are so strong that they would be so caught up in exploring scents and chasing after small animals that they would forget they needed a bathroom break.
Want them to pee outside? Jack Russell Terriers might just pee on the entry rug instead because that is close enough, right?
Like most dogs, with a whole bunch of positive reinforcement and a few treats, even the most independent and stubborn Jack Russell Terrier dogs will get the hang of potty training eventually.

I was a Cocker Spaniel owner and mine was very skiddish. He had problems with submissive urination. It was difficult to attach his leash because of this. My Vet advised me to Raise my hand up like I was going to hit him, then bring it down with a treat. That trick is what I used to attach his leash. But once he was house broken, he didn’t have “accidents”, just the submissive urination.
Great article! And, wouldn’t you know? We live with two Jacks!
