Dog behavior problem no. 3: Biting
Of all of the dog behavior problems, biting is probably the most dangerous. An aggressive dog that bites will always be a danger, and if you notice this behavior in your pup, try to learn what to do about it as soon as possible.
The first case we will talk about is not about aggressive behavior but more about the way pups learn about this world.
There are several reasons why dogs bite and nip, but the majority are instinctual. Usually, pups nip because it is a way to explore and discover the environment. Also, mother dogs correct their puppies when they need to stop biting too hard.
This is the way puppies begin to develop bite inhibition. But after that, owners will still have to train their dogs not to bite and teach them that behavior like this is not acceptable.
But there are also other reasons that may make your dog bite. Besides aggression, your pup might bite because it is frightened, it is in pain or sick, it is defensive, it protects the property, or maybe it is just the predatory instinct.
Any dog might feel like it has the right to bite if it believes the situation calls for it. Through correct socialization, training, and breeding practices, owners and breeders may reduce any breed of dog’s inclination to bite.
