Dog behavior problem no. 1: Barking
This is perhaps the most common and well-known problem that dog owners have. Their dog is barking, and they don’t know why. At first, you might think that this is not such a big deal, but after a while, it can become difficult to manage.
Your neighbors might be bothered as well as you and your family. Nobody wants to be woken up in the middle of the night by a barking dog. And what is even worse is that many times you can’t convince your pup to stop barking.
Most dogs have their own way of vocalizing, whether barking, whining, howling, or any other, but excessive barking is one of the dog behavior problems that may be difficult to correct.
Before you can stop your dog from barking too much, you must first figure out why they are vocalizing in the first place. Some of the most common reasons are boredom, anxiety, alertness and wariness, attention-seeking, excitement, playfulness, or responding to other dogs.
After you have figured out the cause of the excessive barking, you can start to learn how to control it and teach your dog some barking and quiet commands. Never forget that patience is the key, along with dedication and attention to detail.
