Dog behavior problem no. 5: Begging
Did you know that begging is actually one of the dog behavior problems? And it often flies under the radar because many dog owners encourage it. We know that it might seem cute when your dog begs you to give them some of your food, but this is not healthy and can later lead to more serious problems.
The main reason dogs beg is because they love food. But keep in mind that table scraps are not treats, and giving your pup food is not the way you show them that you love them. We know that it is so hard to resist those puppy eyes, but the “just this one time” exceptions will become a problem in the long run.
Tell your dog that it is time to go to their place when you are about to eat. It should be a spot from which they can’t stare at you. If you believe it is necessary, send your dog to another room.
If they behave, give them a special treat only after you are done eating.
