6. You bath your dog too often

While your dog requires frequent washes, going overboard can be harmful to the animal. Dogs have incredible coats that secrete natural oils to maintain healthy skin and hair. Because of this, if you bathe it too frequently, the oils in the coat are washed away, which may cause irritation and hair loss.

Vets recommend bathing your dog every 6 weeks unless it’s super dirty because they played too much outside. Moreover, they also say that the shampoo you use has a great impact on shedding. And one of the most common reasons why your dog sheds so much fur is because you use the wrong shampoo. A lot of people tend to use the same shampoo they use for their hair, which is a huge mistake.

If you are not sure what to use that suits your pet’s individual needs, ask your vet. They’ll be happy to help you, for sure!

  1. Your articles are very interesting, helpful, and I relate to all of them. I am 81, have a 5 year old Chihuahua mix that wants to go with me every time I leave the house. Can’t take her to doctor appointments, shopping, etc. Do take her whenever possible. We do snuggle for hours in the afternoons.
Took her to my sisters two years ago. Got her out of the car, had her on a leash that had some slack in it. She took off running, tried to attack a man and I went down on blacktop face first. Broke my nose, left wrist, and three teeth.
Rescued her, wanted a younger dog because I didn’t want to get attached and her pass before me.
After the incident two years ago, I am not comfortable walking her on a leash. Any suggestions?
