No. 2 on our list of dangerous foods for cats is chocolate. Cats aren’t necessarily interested in this delicious treat, but anything containing chocolate chips or cocoa puts them at risk. Many animals, including cats, that consume chocolate often exhibit vomiting and diarrhea, cardiac and blood pressure issues, and sometimes dyspnea (also known as shortness of breath).

According to experts, the toxicity of this is always dose-dependent; milk chocolate tends to be less toxic because it contains more milk fat, but the darker the cholocate, the higher the risk.

You may wonder why chocolate is among the most dangerous foods for cats. It’s because it contains substances called methylxanthines (specifically, caffeine and theobromine) that are toxic to pets.
