7. Caffeine
No. 7 on our list of dangerous foods for cats is caffeine. Cats are especially sensitive to this substance, and it all depends on the quantity consumed. According to experts, a few accidental licks may not cause major issues, but anything more than that will likely require an emergency trip to the vet.
The condition responsible for that is caffeine toxicity, whose symptoms usually occur within the first 30 minutes of ingestion and can last up to 12 hours.
So, watch out for dropped coffee beans, for instance, which are very dangerous for cats. Moreover, caffeine and coffee are considered poisonous and can even cause death in small animals. You may also want to look for caffeine hidden in less obvious foods like chocolate or black tea.
