6 Ways to Make Your Dog Shed Less

Deshedding at home 1: Get adequate equipment

The best way to make sure that you are doing a good job is to have the right equipment at home. Deshedding is basically just brushing your dog in order to get rid of the excess undercoat that they may be shedding.

It differs from normal brushing because it also gets to the layers closer to their skin, and you need to be careful with how you do this so as not to damage the undercoat (which acts as insulation in winter and helps them keep cool in winter).

Some of the most popular deshedding tools include a slicker brush (it has stainless steel bristles; we recommend the Chris Christensen coral slicker brush, which is also great for detangling), an undercoat rake, or even the ever-popular Furminator.

If your dog has a short coat, an EquiGroomer brush may be your best choice!
